Emma Turns 1!

Emma turned one year old on January 8th, 2012. We had a big party to celebrate her on the 7th. My grandparents, mom and dad, and Taylor and Aubree were all able to travel in and join Rett's side of the family and our friends to see her eat sugar for the first time, open presents, and get all dressed up in her princess outfit.

It was a weekend long celebration with my family coming into town on Friday. It was beautiful weather that we were able to play outside and greet them when they pulled up.

hello?

Emma's party was a princess themed party and the kids and adults joined in on the theme! We had over 60 people at the party with 14 under the age of 4! It was so fun! We decorated in pink, purple and green with pink roses all over for Emma Rose!

Got the cupcakes from The Cakery...delicious!

goodie bags for the princes and princesses

is it party time?

Then it was time for cake!

The day after, Emma enjoyed playing with all her new toys and toasting to her true birthday with her birthday hat from our next door neighbors, Bill and Judy.

looks like Christmas morning!

At her first year check-up, Emma weighed in at 16 lbs and 11 oz. Dr. McBride says she is following a healthy curve for her weight gain since being a preemie.

Emma now speaks about 5 words:
  • dada
  • momma
  • uh oh
  • whoa
  • moo
  • bow (her word for doggie)
Her sign language is really developing and she is able to tell us when she wants to eat and when she wants more. She loves the Itsy Bitsy Spider and tries to mimic the hand movements.

Here she is right before her one-year check-up and at the Dr's office.
all dressed up to see Dr. McBride...she finger painted in the nude this same day at school because Ms. Judy didn't want to get yellow paint on her dress :)
love those rosy cheeks

uh oh, shot time.
Happy one year, baby girl!
We love you
